What is the 0800 number for NFU Mutual?

What is the 0800 number for NFU Mutual?

Are NFU and NFU Mutual the same?

We've had a few questions recently from members about whether NFU Mutual (NFU) and the NFU is the same thing. The answer is: yes and no. The basic principle of who we are is very similar but there are differences in how and when you have to pay, who you can claim against, what we will do to make your life better and things we won't do.

If you get stuck with a claim, we will give you all the help you need. However, if you decide to take us on as your insurance provider, you must pay the premiums as well as all claims you make. It might seem like a good deal, but you are also giving up all your rights to our cover. This means that if you want to change the insurance company you have or make changes to the policy, you can't do it without our permission.

If you want our details and the difference between our cover and NFU cover, you can download our guide to NFU and NFU Mutual. Do I have to pay the first year fee? It depends on how old you are and whether you are a member of the Association or not. If you are under 25, you can opt out of paying the first year fees when you join NFU and then you are in with no costs or restrictions on claiming. If you are over 25, and have joined NFU, you are liable to pay the first year fee. If you don't do so within six months of joining, you will lose the right to claim. But don't worry - there's a grace period of six months - in which you can be a member of NFU but not be liable to pay the first year fee.

You can join NFU for 10 or any one of the other ways I mentioned at the top of the page and then join the Association when you are ready, which could be two years or more from now. If you go through NFU and pay the first year fee within six months of joining NFU, you will get the full year for free. In the first year you have to pay annual premium for the next year to get the whole year for free.

What time does the NFU call centre open?

Answer. You can reach us by telephone during normal business hours, or if you live outside our office areas in London, you can contact us via email. Our website is open from 9am until 5pm UK time on weekdays, and 9am until 4pm UK time on Saturday. We are closed for national holiday periods. If we do not respond to you within the times mentioned, please call us back.

We always aim to answer your query quickly, but due to staff, IT equipment and external factors such as weather and traffic, we are not always able to respond to queries that have been received during very busy periods, or over bank holiday weekends. We will try to get back to you the next working day. Please note we cannot answer emails received outside of these times or on weekends.

When sending us an email enquiry, please include your full name, the name of the farm and all your contact details (address, telephone number, email address). We are unable to respond if we are unable to verify your address with the NFU National Call Centre.

Who operates the NFU Call Centre? In May 2026 NFU Call Centre was given approval to operate on behalf of NFU Farmers in response to new requirements set out by The National Off-Road Commission (NOTC) following a review of livestock handling in the UK. Who funds this service? The NFU Call Centre is a not-for-profit organisation and relies on members to continue providing their services. As well as the NFU, members include a range of Government agencies (including the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food), private and voluntary organisations and a wide network of volunteers.

Can I buy agricultural insurance cover online or through NFU agents? No. The NFU does not sell direct insurance cover for agricultural producers. However, we can recommend brokers and specialists who are experts in this area and who understand how agricultural operations work, enabling them to find a suitably priced policy.

Our farm insurance expert service provides free advice and quotes from specialist companies providing farm insurance cover and we can provide details on how to apply for cover through one of these companies. Please send your enquiry to our Farm Insurance Expert Service (FIES) team for a quote and/or to apply for cover directly to the company you are considering or using.

Will my payments from the NFU be used to help other farmers?

How to contact NFU for free?

I'm still not sure how to get in touch with the NFU. Is it a number, or do I need to go to their website? Would you be able to point me in the right direction? Cheers! Jenny x. We have a local club who have got the chance of hosting a speaker who is currently sponsored by NFU - If you want them, we are hoping to speak to them about doing the same for us. I would let them know about your interest.

Have you checked the list of courses on the NFU website, they will have a course near you. Jenny  pollyanna1207. Joined: 10 Dec 2026. Posts: 49. Posted: Wed Dec 13, 2026 3:32 pm. My son loves it and I like hearing him tell me that he will no longer eat corn and I shall eat it for lunch. I am very disappointed in myself, as I bought some last year thinking I was going to make some chicken but it was corn fritters (dairy free of course) and they were fantastic Jenny, I can't find your message posted so if someone else has responded, thank you! It's always a help to read other's experiences. I can only remember our first meeting with NFU when my daughter was a toddler. At that time NFU had a stand at Glastonbury. I remember thinking how nice they were to support the local farmers and their livestock. I also remember wondering how could I ever feed my young child off of fresh meat, knowing how hard it was to find such lovely stuff. I have managed to keep up my membership and I will be doing the same this year with the little one. We'll be making fresh butchers pickles, chutney, jams and lots more!

I don't think that I can give any useful advice other than to try out their farm shop before you commit. We did a farm shop event a few years ago which we thoroughly enjoyed and I have never looked back since. We bought enough for about a week at each visit.

What is the 0800 number for NFU Mutual?

The 0800 number is an emergency helpline. So if you have an emergency, this is where you can ring for help.

In order to find the number for NFU Mutual, enter 'NFU Mutual' into your phone's search bar and press Enter. This will lead you to the appropriate helpline and the number you want.

However, there is also a general enquiry helpline which covers both NFU Mutual and the British Beekeepers Association. So you can ring them on 020 7703 5123, or 07970 512321.

Does NFU Mutual share its profits? Yes. NFU Mutual is a mutual company and so it shares its profits with its members. It spends over 40% of its total income on providing insurance to beekeepers and also provides advice.

Does NFU Mutual subsidise beekeepers? No. As a mutual, NFU Mutual pays the insurance premiums for all its members and has no need to raise money from anyone. If it has insufficient money to pay the premiums for all its members it would not be able to pay the insurance premiums for any members, therefore we would need to look elsewhere. The government does provide funds to cover the difference but NFU Mutual doesn't seek to be paid by the taxpayer.

Nationally managed funds do have a legal obligation to pay their members out of their general funds and the general funds which can be invested by the regulator. There are no guarantees that they will always spend the money in this way. For further details see here.

What insurance is provided by NFU Mutual? NFU Mutual's policies and schemes can be found on its website. The main ones are listed below, but there are also specific coverages for your equipment, equipment repair or replacement, beekeeping buildings and honey processing as well as specific policies to cover bees and other beekeeping activities.
