Rover was one of the first manufacturers of vehicles. Early years saw the company developing the template for the modern bicycle, which they prduced called the "safety bicycle". It wasn't until 1904 that they moved on to making cars.
One of their most famous developments is the Land Rover which since 1948 has been a popular 4x4, which has moved with the times and still commands a good share of the market. Even though it has a lot of strong competition.
Their mainstay products were always in the mid sized market place and over the years this was where they concentrated their business. As with many other British car builders Rover saw many ups and downs and being taken over on a number of occasions.
Unfortunately there are no current Rover cars being produced, after the collapse of MG Rover. The brand name is currently owned by Tata motors who also own Land Rover.
