After Ram 1500 pickups get updated to look a bit sharper than in recent years, we are certain that the fourth-generation pickup will get completely redesigned. So let's take a look at what engines are going to be available in 2023 Ram 1500.

All-New 2.0-liter EcoDiesel Engines It looks like Ram is going to make EcoDiesel pickups available everywhere across the world. That's quite impressive especially considering that Chevrolet started producing the Chevy Cruze EcoDiesel in February 2023.

At this point of time, it is very clear that there are two EcoDiesels on the table. One will be the 2.0-liter and another one is going to be 2.7 liter EcoDiesel. It looks like the only engine coming to Mexico will be the smaller variant, as the current trucks get an 8-speed automatic.

We are pretty sure that Ram is not going to replace this EcoDiesel with anything else. However, we are still hoping for a diesel hybrid pickup for those who need more power and don't care about the diesel powertrain. Just take a look at how much money the Ram has invested into eco-friendly trucks since Ram's acquisition by the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (FCA) group. Ram is clearly allocating all their resources to that matter as they want to create the most sustainable pickups for the future generation.

We can't deny the fact that Dodge is still one of the biggest truck-owning manufacturers across the world and Ram needs to take care of their own customers. EcoDiesel engines will definitely help drivers to save money on diesel gas consumption.

42 and 44 Hybrid Pickups. So you are probably wondering how Ram is going to build up hybrid versions of their pickup trucks. This question could be answered by the number of times Ram is written on the screen. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel hybrid comes with RAM logo on the center of its hood and a big Ram sign above its rear quarter. We are pretty sure that no other truck is getting such kind of upgrades.

However, the regular Ram 1500 42 doesn't get such kind of branding.

Will the 5.7 Hemi be available in 2024?

If you've noticed the number 5 being used a lot recently, it's because Chevrolet's upcoming Corvette is set to debut next year. There won't be much in the way of news regarding this new sub-flagship model until we get closer to that debut. But Chevrolet has been quietly teasing a potential update that adds an engine based on its small-block V8 formula.

This engine, dubbed the LSZ by Chevrolet, will be a high-horsepower option in the Corvette and it will not be a replacement for the LT1 V8. At least, we think that's the plan with the Z06, which we're told is already in the production facility. GM hasn't confirmed anything yet but it wouldn't surprise us if the company also unveiled the engine during the event we are expecting on Sept. 17.

The next generation ZR1, which should get its official debut in Las Vegas at the same time as the Z06, could be powered by the same engine. So the only way to have both versions of the new Corvette is for them to be identical. Therefore, we expect both versions to be released at roughly the same time, most likely toward the end of the year. Since the Z06 makes more power, the option to have both versions should be there.

It's easy to envision a 2023 launch of the LSZ with a standard output of at least 650 HP. As for the ZR1, GM should be smart enough to keep its performance plans under wraps for now. But a 700 HP version of the ZR1 is well within the realm of possibility, provided that the car can maintain that output while being able to do away with all the carbon fiber weight and the massive wings that make it famous. It would be a nice change, but it doesn't seem likely to happen.
