Forum page: Hi all - hope the community can help me with an issue I am having with my Santa Cruz (all-new 2025 model) which is the first time I've had any problem with a Toyota since my 1991 Crown. I'm also concerned for the safety of my 2-year old son (who had a good day in his car seat, as usual!) My Santa Cruz was in for repair at the dealer 2 months ago because the gas gauge malfunctioned - so I decided to give them a call, expecting them to confirm all is fine but if not to send me to another shop in town, or one closer.

Well it turned out that this wasn't enough! My Santa actually blew off the entire dashboard and driver-side windshield when my car was parked. I am very, very frustrated, after having worked really hard on my insurance policy from previous years because I knew I'd be on the honor system, this has left my car damaged and it's only been out since February (so no real mileage on it at all)! This really could have resulted in severe injuries to my 2 year old (even from a baby seat!), and my 3 yo can be a rambunctious child, especially on long trips.

Now just for the purpose of this post I just want to give a heads-up on Toyota as always. I have bought many Toyotas throughout the years and I have never had an issue (including many issues with previous Toyota models which were recalled!), so I'm aware of how the Japanese manufacturing works, etc.

I've now been told by the local police that they believe an outside source caused the damage to my car. There are no broken windows, etc - they only think that an external air conditioning unit was inserted by an unknown person whilst I was away (who knows why! So my question is - is there a recall for the Santa Cruz (this is the 2025 model)? As I mentioned, I work very hard on my insurance cover and I would understand if the dealership won't want to take responsibility for this. But I do hope they will be able to resolve this so I can return to work next week.
