What is the difference between the Focus ST and the Focus ST line?
Is there a 2024 Focus ST?
A lot of people are wondering why there isn't a Focus ST variant in Focus' lineup. In fact, the only Focus models that are still in production (or on hold) today are the SE and XR variants.
Why isn't there a ST Focus? A version of the ST that's fast enough to compete with the Camaro RS? It seems that GM has forgotten or has given up on the muscle car market completely. I hope not, it would be great to have the focus st like the old one. If you remember one of the big selling points of the old GT model was it's huge performance potential . I hope someone makes this model once again as there was a market for it from what I understand.
I don't expect it to sell many. At all. Not unless Chevy finally brings out the new Z/28 model, which is rumored for late 2025. But, the next gen Camaro could bring in an interest for a ST-version though, so.
You'd think they would make more of an effort to keep the current "SE" model in production. For the most part, it's a good car. I like the car (although a little thirsty and loud) and if only some minor changes were made to the powertrain so it uses the 2L base engine instead of the 1.5 and you can have a few more features on board then it might be a very popular car (if it were kept in production). If no ST is being produced, there would be less demand for the existing SE cars. And if there were a more basic SE model, less buyers would go for the more "exclusive" versions (XLT/GLS/SE-trimmed). It doesn't seem like GM is listening to its customers here or perhaps they do listen but just aren't sure how to implement their ideas into a production vehicle - there needs to be a shift in thought with their marketing, not just with their development.
There would have to be some major changes made, I think. I'm not saying it shouldn't exist, I just don't see how it would be possible. There could be a few minor modifications but not enough to make the Focus ST even as a concept. They're really the only way to go.

What is the difference between the Focus ST and the Focus ST line?
They differ in a few, rather superficial ways. The Focus ST is available with a manual transmission or optional paddle-shifted automatic. In order to retain the name Focus, Volkswagen engineers had to sacrifice rear-wheel drive and a manual gearbox, which means that the 2025 Focus ST is basically a hatchback version of the Volkswagen Golf GTI. As such, it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 7.1 seconds.
The new addition to the Focus lineup is the GTI-inspired Focus ST, which is powered by a 2.0-liter engine and available in both manual and paddle-shifted automatic versions.
Both engines produce 250 horsepower, although the GTI's output jumps to 315 ponies. The new Focus ST line has its engine mounted ahead of the front wheels, unlike the four-cylinder version of the hatchback. Also new for the 2025 model year is the inclusion of an eight-speed automatic transmission.
