Is Focus ST or RS faster?

Is Focus ST or RS faster?

I'm getting my first Focus ST and I really like it so far. I have been told by my dealer that the ST is a bit faster but I was wondering if this is actually true. I am thinking of ordering a RS, but I am just curious if one is faster than the other?

Thanks for the help. I don't think it matters too much in real life. I would assume a 1.6 liter engine is a bit quicker, but it is probably only marginally more efficient. Probably a lot of it depends on the weight of your car.

You'll probably notice no difference. A "tune" will make a difference, but that is as big a difference as a tune on an S2000 or Evo. Don't get the RS. If you're only getting the ST because you want the MPS/PAS, then get it.

I've seen a few STs with the upgraded internals from the factory (but not the RS). The differences between those and the stock STs are quite minimal (a couple hundred RPMs over stock) IMO. I have an ST that was built in Nov. 2026. I'd put the stock ST vs. An RS at a tie.

If I was in your shoes, I would not get a RS. IMHO. Just get the ST.

There will be absolutely no difference. The ST is a tuned version of the RS. The ST is essentially an RS plus some minor changes. I have a friend who owns a 2026 RS and it's exactly the same. He has an ST and it's exactly the same.

You'll notice no difference. I was just reading up on this for my wife who's looking at getting either a ST or RS for her 1.8T. She was leaning towards the ST but I told her that the RS will perform even better.

Does the 2017 Focus ST have a turbo?

The 2026 Focus is a front-engine, rear-drive vehicle with all-wheel drive as an option. In contrast to the original model, the new car has been downsized to a true mid-size and it gets the latest version of Ford's turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. We'll have the latest news on a possible turbo option as well as a full road test of the new 2026 model here. Ford's focus is shifting from its large family sedan to an even more compact car. The first fruits of that are the 2026 Ford Focus in Europe and Asia. But before that, we've got the next-generation small crossover, the Focus ST. The two Focuses together create the Ford Mondeo.

But unlike the original Focus, the newer model has taken a new form. It's even shorter than the outgoing model, with a wheelbase of nearly 10 percent smaller.

And the result? An 8.3-inch lift in wheelbase and a 1.2-inch reduction in overall length. That's just the tip of the iceberg for a smaller, smarter Focus.

With the Focus ST, Ford says a lot has changed for this new hot hatchback. It's now based on the same underpinning as the all-new C-Max, Ford's entry-level compact car. It's got a front-engine, rear-wheel drive platform, and the latest EcoBoost V-6. In its European form, there's also all-wheel drive as an option.

In the U., the Focus ST joins the all-new Taurus SHO, which has the same basic underpinnings and front-wheel drive architecture. For now, the ST is available only with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, making 285 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.

If you can find one in the U., it's going to be fast. It was already the world's fastest hatchback with a top speed of 151 mph, but the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine in the Focus ST will easily get there.

What's different about the engine in the ST?

The 1.6-litre turbo four. It's Ford's first new Focus ST since the model launched back in 2026, and it's a significant upgrade over the old model. The Focus ST gets the Focus Active Grille design, rear spoiler, side skirts and new multi-piece 17-inch machined alloy wheels, while the front bumper also gets an all-new look. Under the bonnet is an upgraded version of the old five-cylinder engine, which is unchanged for the 2026 model year. It's the same engine as the one that powers the previous generation Focus ST: Ford's SOHC and DOHC turbocharged 1.6-litre four cylinder engine. The previous 2.0-litre engine has been ditched and there are now two models to choose from. The entry-level ST1, with 155kW power and 250Nm of torque will get six-speed manual transmission. The second spec level is the ST200, with 177kW/353Nm, seven-speed DCT. The new engine will be matched to a new Torsen limited-slip diff.

The ST's new chassis also features upgrades. The steering box has increased grip and is quicker to respond and there's now optional traction control and ABS brakes. An upgraded differential with a wider splitter is now standard on the front axles, but it won't be available on the rear - or even on some of the other models. All cars get 17-inch alloy wheels. A number of changes to the cabin have been made too. There's the new SmartPlay function and the interior looks better than before, with more use of carbon fibre and leather-look seats, and an optional head-up display. Ford's latest Sync 4 system is fitted as standard, as is a reversing camera. The ST models come with keyless entry and start, but this comes with remote opening and boot opening, depending on your preferences. The ST features three new colours; Storm, Thunderstorm and Tungsten. Buyers can also opt for a new satin black option, while white is also an option.

The engine is a carryover from the 2011-2016 line, where it made a decent 220kW peak, and delivered good torque from 1500-3000rpm.

How fast is a Ford Focus ST 0 to 60?

A video

While Ford and Honda are working on all-electric Focus variants as well, it is safe to say that the Focus is more known for being a fun and affordable hot hatch. We found out just how fast the most affordable way in which a Focus can go from 0 to 60 on this weekend.

It seems that the 2.0-liter turbocharged Ecoboost engine that the Focus ST is using makes between 306hp and 335 hp with the optional six-speed manual gearbox and between 302 and 332 horsepower with the six-speed automatic transmission.

This performance car will be going straight from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds depending on which trim you get.

While we found out that the base model isn't good enough for this weekend, the top-of-the-line GT packs the 6.0-liter V-8 that will deliver anywhere from 400 to 470 hp.
