They did not say they were increasing the prices just because they could, but they are adding more features to the truck and making it more technologically advanced. The next step is to get one of these things to work as a motherboard. This is the only motherboard I could find that supports the new CPU (which, let's face it, is a bit of an odd thing to say). It's no longer available on Amazon. But you can buy a similar product from Gigabyte on their site (note: they don't specify how much this motherboard costs, or what motherboard revision they are using, so it could be cheaper in some places)

One quick tip I've learned so far, if you are going to use this motherboard for a while, you'll want to pop a fan inside the case and put in some airflow to prevent overheating and/or having to replace/recharge your capacitors. A word on "power loss": this power loss issue is what causes my system to shutdown/overheat every time I boot up Windows on my old motherboard. The problem isn't so bad on the RAM, because the processor will shut off before the RAM dies (but that doesn't happen on this motherboard).

On a similar note, the CPU on this board is "only" 800mhz compared to the RAM speed. As I understand it, this is to ensure that even when the processor shuts down, the RAM doesn't go with it. As mentioned above, the CPU automatically reduces its speed when it detects RAM speed (hence, why you can't overclock your RAM). However, if you were to use, say, 1gigs of RAM (2gigs or more won't even be possible), there would be times when the speed reduction takes it well below 800mhz. In that case, it might make sense to use a slower CPU like a 800mhz P4 or something like that.

Now on to the actual post. Since the CPU and motherboard specs look decent, the next step is to add RAM. My current memory situation is:

As I understand it, your motherboard should handle RAM of this size without any problems (unless it has a maximum memory size that is not high enough). Now you will have to wait for the RAM to come in (since this is a very hot commodity, you will want to order yours in advance). I'm not sure how many of the RAM is going to be in stock, but it looks like I'm in good shape.
