Do Ford still make an automatic Fiesta?
I have had an automatic Fiesta for about 12 years now. It has been serviced at the local garage, and always had the same trouble with the gearbox. It was always in the garage over the summer (for about three weeks at a time), and never had any trouble while I had it there. However, once I returned to it, it was always sluggish to start off from a standstill.
It does seem to have problems with sticking gears when revving over a speed hump. It seems to be worse with the top down as it is easier to hear the gear grinding in the higher revs. I am quite sure it is the gearbox that has failed, but would like to know if it is possible to get a replacement part, or is it just a case of replacing the whole car?
I have also had a manual version for two years now, and it has not had any problems like the automatic. The only reason I got the automatic was because I have to drive a lot of country roads and am out on them a lot. It is a lot more hassle getting it started from a standstill, especially when it is raining.
Hi,I had a similar problem with a Fiesta, and found it difficult to locate a replacement gearbox. It was a manual, and I replaced the whole thing myself. In the end I found a used one, so it was a lot cheaper than trying to find a replacement part.I'm glad you found your answer, and hope you don't have to replace the whole thing.
I have a manual Fiesta, and it is a great car. I just bought it used a few months ago, but will have to look for a new one because it won't start sometimes. It won't start in the morning when I put it in neutral, but it will start fine when I let it roll along. I can't find out what is wrong with it because it has no fault codes.
Do you know if the manual will start better than the automatic? It is a bit tricky to drive sometimes as it is hard to predict when it will start. It's fine when it's cold as I can press the clutch and it will start, but on hot days it takes a bit of time to get going.
I have a manual Fiesta 1.8, I just bought it a week ago but it won't start.
What is the common problem in Ford Fiesta?
Question. Problem with Ford Fiesta (Zafira) 1.I had been on a road about a kilometer away from my house and when I was coming back, the car is not starting. It's an automatic. 2. I tried to start it from standing position, but the car didn't start 3.Then I tried to drive it by the driver's side 4. After trying the same, it worked, but the battery is not charging as usual5. When I tried to remove the battery cover, the car won't start.
Answer. Ford.com/uk The problem you are having sounds like there is a problem with the starter motor or the electronic control system for the engine. The first thing to do is to stop the car, jump the battery and see if the engine starts with the starter engaged. If so you should take the car to your local Ford dealer for a diagnostic check.com/uk
Hi I had the same problem as you with my Zafira. I thought it was going to be fixed by a few days but it kept happening. Luckily, I called my local Ford dealer and they did a diagnostic and everything was fine. Don't know why it happened but if it happens to you they are quite good. Ford don't like them because we are always taking them in for faults but when we call them the problem is fixed within an hour or so! Hope this helps :)
Ford. Hope this helps :) Thanks for the update.
How much is a 20 plate Fiesta worth?
The reason I ask is because I have to sell my car. I want to know how much it is worth in the area. What is the average in the area? If someone can help me that would be awesome! Thanks in advance! Last edited by johnthejr; 02-19-2010 at 11:16 AM. The best thing to do is go to the local car dealerships, talk to them, and see what they say. What I'd do is find out what the Kelley Blue Book is for that particular model year, and then look up the value of that model in that year. Thanks for your help! I'm just going to do what the dealer says.
