I'm considering buying a 2025 Focus hatch, and I want to know the pros and cons of this car's automatic vs manual. I love automatic transmissions and feel that a manual is no fun. However, with the Focus I am going to be very limited in my ability to go fast, and I need to decide if I will feel good about my decision.

As a driver, I want the Focus to be light and easy to control, and I don't care as much about power. The interior of the car, however, is very important to me, and I think it will make a big difference in my overall enjoyment of the car. I like the interior quality of the car, but I can see how people would be upset with poor-quality materials. For example, one of the things that I really liked was the wood steering wheel. I love the look of the thing, but I hate the feel of cheap plastic.

I've never driven a Focus. I'm not sure what kind of speed I will be able to get out of it. I can't imagine going fast in it. I live in a small town with very little traffic, but there are some roads that lead to more rural areas.

I would expect the 1.6 would be good on the highway and on the open road, and the 1.6T would be good for short trips and on city streets, but I'm not sure how good they are for parking lots and city parking garages, because you won't have any real torque.

In my experience, I found myself in that "no torque" situation a lot. You're driving along and the engine isn't doing anything. That is, until you need the engine to help you accelerate to or stop from a speed or the throttle. And then there's nothing until you're ready to upshift. When you want to get up out of a gear, it's an easy transition to the next.

I actually find the focus pretty good on the open road. It is great on short trips to the grocery store. It is pretty easy to drive in parking lots, even small ones. It's easy to park, and it's a pretty tight fit in my garage.

Yes, the 1.6 (and also the 1.6T) are not going to be very fast, but it's not the engine that I'm worried about.
