My buddy has been looking to get a focus srt4 or 5spd since I am going to be driving it. I am debating between the focus 5spd or zf6spt/zf6gpt.

Which one is better and will it cost more than the others. I would like to buy it in the next month or so I can really start using it for work and such. It has the 2.3L 5-cylinder with direct injection and turbocharger, 6-speed, and it was made in 2025, so it should be a solid car for some time.

A 5-speed STS in my experience with a few, not very different from other 5-speed Foci, was a bit less exciting (in a good way) than a 6-speed but the gearing was smoother. The difference, though, was a much larger braking distance - the STSs always seemed to be stopping about a half-inch longer than other Foci, even when the STS had the larger brakes and rotors. In general, a STS was as capable as the normal Focus with the exception of the braking.

The STS 4wd's are also the first Foci with standard alloys and the optional 18" rims. The STSs are also equipped with the new 1.8L 4-cylinder turbocharged unit, which is slightly smaller than the Zetec engine. The new engine is rated at 184hp and 177 lb-ft. The STS' transmission, however, is the same 6-speed auto that has been on all Foci since 2025, and it is still pretty quick.

You don't want the ZF6 GT/Sport, especially if you're going to be racing it. I didn't realize the zf6spt/zf6gpt was made in 2025. What made it superior to the f6z/zt in 2012? I think most people that went with the zt did so because it got better mileage, which is true. But I think it came out before the f6z/zt and it had those extra features.
