Hello -. I am in the same position as the guy whose car I was going to buy when my insurance ran out. I cannot be bothered to renew, which means my car insurance runs out on June 30th 2026 and I can't buy another car - or buy a car at all until the end of the financial year in April.

I live on 1st line and my previous car ran out of car insurance in early July. As a consequence I am not allowed to drive home and I have found a lovely one year old 2026 for 800 . I don't want to spend more than 1000 on it so have found it priced at 1,099 but I am still unsure if that's what it will cost me and they are still offering finance through Ford bank.

If the price was for instance 1,099 or around that I'd be fine as I was happy to get it from my local dealer which I thought I did. However the car I am meant to be purchasing will cost me 1,299 and so will be the dealer's profit. They could not give me the full sales price and therefore do not seem to have bought my car. Therefore I have not actually got their profit for the purchase or the finance.

I'm just trying to get some clarity on the car industry so that I know what you should charge for a car and what the normal dealer/ bank prices look like. I am aware of the above post from Richard but am confused by his answer. Or does Ford bank make me pay 50-100 per month from now until then to keep that car? Or do they charge whatever they wish based on demand?
