How much does a RAM 1500 5.7 Hemi weigh?
How much does a 2015 RAM 1500 Big Horn weigh?
The Ram 1500 HD/HDD was released in 2024 and it has been available for quite some time now. But until now there has been no way to weigh it. We knew a 2024, 4.0L HD Tradesman weighs around 3,000 lbs but we don't know exactly how much the newer model weighs. The 2024 Big Horn has been an excellent addition to the Jeep lineup for years now, but we can't help but notice the weight difference when comparing it to the 2nd generation Canyon (5,300lbs), or the 3rd generation Ridgeline (3,900lbs). So, where do the HD models fall?
The HD models are a little heavier than the regular 4.0L models of the same model year.
Based on the data released by Jeep, a 2.7L V6 HD Tradesman (not 4.7L V8) will weigh around 3,100 lbs. that's about 350 lbs less than a Ridgeline. The weight difference is not as much as the one you would think, but it does tell us that there is a bit more going into the Big Horn. It's an interesting observation, as even though the 2nd generation Canyon is slightly heavier than the big badger, they both come with bigger engines and I'm sure that has something to do with the difference. That said, a 4.7L V8 HD Tradesman, based on the info, should weigh in at roughly 4,100 lbs which is a total of 400 lbs more than the Big Horn.
But I'm not done yet, I also noticed a comment from an official employee that stated that a new HD, 5.7L, V8 is currently being tested. It's a monster truck and should beat a Ridgeline on paper by at least 100 lbs.
As you can see, that may be true, but where do the other big boys fit in? Well, the 3rd generation Ridgeline weighs in at 5,300 lbs. if we go by those numbers, that means the V6 HD Tradesman should weigh a total of 4,050 lbs, but if the new V8 is indeed a 'monster truck', that should bring the total to 3,750 lbs.
How much does a RAM 1500 Bighorn weigh?
How do you get it off your hands?
Based on my experience on several Bighorn rigs, the heaviest I had in the bed was a 6' 10" tall frame. They weigh about 2.8 - 3.0 tons. The heaviest I have on my hands are some of the newer frames with the steel frame, and the weight is closer to 2.4 - 2.5 tons.
I'd probably think there's no way the bed could hold a ton. But if someone can make a convincing argument for one, I'm all ears.
I believe the maximum weight for the rear axles is 2,200 pounds. I don't know what the weight limit for the rear wheels is.
