I just bought a brand new Honda Civic from a dealer in my hometown. The deal was done over the phone, and the dealer had a sales manager who signed off on the deal, so I feel safe and secure. The sales manager was nice enough to answer my questions when he wasn't busy.
Now I am curious as to why dealerships are always close to each other, what would make them want to be next to each other in a small town? I am assuming that there is no chance that they would have a franchise dealership that covers multiple towns and states, because I don't see how that could be profitable. Is there some reason I am not aware of that would make dealerships next to each other a common thing? The only reason I can think of is to get all the business in one spot. It doesn't cost anything to move the cars around if you're making your money selling cars, but the cars would move slower because you'd need to load/unload more, and it might take up more space in parking lots.
I live near a pretty decent-sized city with a decent sized airport and some decent sized suburbs. And I find that all the dealerships are very close to each other. In fact, we have a fairly large mall just on the other side of the airport and a lot of the dealerships are near the mall.
I do find it odd that there is a chain of car dealerships right across the street from the mall, and I've never seen a single one open on Sundays. Because the car companies don't want to own their own service centers or garages? This is the only reason I can think of.

As we predicted, Ford didn't do too well and the top two selling cars are all Toyota - the Rav4 had already peaked but now it's been pulled into the top 5 so that leaves us with the Toyota Camry. This Camry is a hybrid which includes features found on some of the more expensive Toyotas such as the Lexus or HS250h, but since there are more of these Toyota's sold now than before you will be paying almost twice the MSRP for the same car. Also of note, the 3/4 Ton truck has finally lost its spot as the second cheapest car (in the top ten list) to the top two cars, but the Ford F-150 is still #10.
The 2026 Toyota Camry is currently the #6 bestselling car in the country and it's the most popular Toyota in sales. For the last two decades, the Honda Accord was the best selling family car for Americans. That changed with the introduction of the Toyota Camry which has since held its place for 13 years! What makes the 2026 Camry better than before?
