They have the best used car warranty available online right now, but there's only one drawback - it's really cheap. If you buy a warranty for 1000, I would say it covers any non-financial loss. I'm not a lawyer, but if your warranty covers non-financial losses, then even if you do have a financial loss (for example, you sell the car for more than you paid), the warranty will probably cover it.

There is no guarantee in life that you won't have to have some sort of repair work done to your car, though. If you can find a good deal on extended warranty, you should probably go ahead and do so. It will cost you an additional 1000, but it will save you a lot of hassle in the future.

EDIT: From your question in comments, it seems that the car is likely to be mechanically sound and well-maintained (and it has been driven quite a bit). It's possible that you might have a warranty problem that you'll only notice after several years of driving the car (like electrical issues that start after you've driven it for a while and the battery is low). However, most warranties don't cover those sorts of problems (the seller should know if that's the case), so if you have a warranty and you notice a problem, you should get it fixed within the warranty period.

That said, the first problem that you should look into is the battery. If it's old and not worth repairing, then it's likely the next problem you'll experience is a dead battery, so you should probably get it fixed right away (if possible, you could have it done for free by a friend).

Just looking at the UK regulations I'm pretty sure that the extended warranty company cannot force you to return the vehicle if it fails. The regulations are very strict on what they can and cannot charge you for.
