Where can I sell my car online for free in the UK?

My father in law is having some issues with his car and is going to have to sell it. He has been quoted 400 to fix it but I am wondering if there are any sites that are free to use or sites where he can get some money for it.

Comments. I'm not sure how they're going to take the cash off your dad, but you could always sell it through eBay for free. You just need to register and the car will be listed for sale. You could also try to sell it on Gumtree.

Yeah, for cars you are allowed a few hours to sell on eBay, but my car isn't really a car. My brother does motorbikes though and he gets some money from them, although it's not as easy to sell them on eBay.

I would go to the local council car sales website and use their search engine to find other people selling their cars. If it's the same model as mine then there is no difference selling it from here to your local garage. My car is not worth much more than that so I would just sell it for what you're getting paid.

Also, if he's selling it then I'd guess he wants money for it. If he's not getting the money for it then he'll need to put it back to how it was before, which means having it fixed.

It depends where your dad lives. There are many websites, but the local council might be able to help. They would normally get a fee if you sell it to them, but that fee might be waived.

He lives in Milton Keynes, so the car sales website is carforum.uk. I'll be honest, they are very pushy and can try and upsell you. I think I found that they were only free for a few hours, so if he's waiting for money I'm sure the garage will only be asking for a fee.

The reason I suggested the garage is because if it's the same model as mine then the garage would usually take it off him for a fee of 150 to 200. He could probably get more from carforum, but the garage is a lot cheaper.

It's easy to think of the used car market as a bunch of greedy people selling cars for their own benefit, rather than those of you who want to buy a car. But is it fair to call the entire used car business greedy? If you take AutoTrader as your only source of used car prices, you will probably get a price you pay that is lower than it should be. Hi, I am looking to sell a car that I bought on gumtree, but it is in the process of being sold on gumtree. The buyer is currently looking to buy my car at their price, but it is only selling for 80,000. I told them it was being sold on gumtree as they were asking for 60,000. They then offered me 70,000. I am looking for a more reasonable offer, but they have refused to make an offer. Should I still sell the car on gumtree? I do not want to lose this sale because the buyer has been in contact with me on gumtree and we are still in negotiations. Do you think this is right?

I wouldnt say so. Its just a bad way to sell your car. If you dont want to sell it for that price, find another way. You could try offering your own price to the buyer as long as you make sure it's legit.

You've already had a low offer from the buyer, and if you don't want to sell for that, you don't have to. The Gumtree site states that they charge a fee for every listing - but you may not be aware of this, you may have been charged one by the buyer. Even if you're selling your car free, there is a fee. So, the best thing to do is to get a fee waiver from the buyer. If they have already made an offer, you should probably accept it.
