What is the largest automotive dealership group?

In addition to making profits, there are two goals most automakers share in common: to keep the wheels turning, and to sell more cars and trucks. And most people would agree that the two are probably incompatible. To keep the wheels turning, it helps to sell a lot of vehicles. But to sell a lot of vehicles, it helps to stay in business.

So there is a natural tension between the need to continue selling cars and trucks, and the need to remain profitable. At the same time, some of the biggest players in the industry say that the best way to succeed is by selling and then keeping more of what you sell. That's the key to profitability, after all.

These four companies control almost 40 percent of the U.St auto industry.

As part of the new season of "Car Talk," WTOP's AutoTalk blog asked readers to put together lists of the four largest automaker groups in the United States, based on their respective company size and financial performance. We asked readers to tell us the largest three carmakers in the United States, and for the top three truck makers.

The results of those two votes were easy to predict, since the top three carmakers are the same as the top three truck makers. Here are the winners of our two votes: #1 Ford Motor Company. By far.

Ford sells about one million trucks each year. And it sells a large number of sport utility vehicles, with about one million of them sold annually. These are heavy-duty trucks, which is an important part of the company's business. It also sells small pickup trucks, but they are less profitable than the larger pickups. The company also sells cars and SUVs, but its sales are declining. For the full size sedan, the Fusion and the Escape, sales are flat.

The Ford Taurus and the Lincoln MKZ will be gone in 2023. The Fiesta and the Focus will both be gone next year. The Escape has been available only in hatchback form since 2023.

Here is the list of the top 20 automotive brands sold in the United States, according to market research firm J.D.

How many dealer groups are there in the UK?

And what are the dealers' relationships with the bank?

There are 14,750 dealer groups in the UK today, but that is not a true reflection of the industry as it used to be, according to Stephen O'Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer of the Specialist Vehicle Association. At one time, there were around 50,000 car dealers, he said, but that number has now shrunk to 14,750. The Specialist Vehicle Association (SVA) says it represents around 7,000 specialist vehicle retailers and over 20,000 vehicle service technicians in the UK today. Our primary responsibility is to develop a sustainable channel for the sale and servicing of specialist vehicles, O'Sullivan explained. We don't sell vehicles; we only service them, so we do the maintenance on any vehicle from a BMW to a Hummer or Land Rover to a Lamborghini.e. We have no affiliation with any dealer group, and most of our members are independent garages. So we take care of the maintenance of any vehicle, from a Ford Fiesta to a Lamborghini, on our own premises. We are not associated with any manufacturer, nor with any distributor or franchised dealership.

Dealer associations. The SVA claims to be the largest independent service and repair network of vehicle service technicians in the UK today. Most of our members are independent garages, O'Sullivan pointed out. They are the majority, and they are all over the UK. Our main business is the service of specialist vehicles, and our secondary business is the repair of non-specialist vehicles.

It is a small industry and we do not make much money from the repair business. It is just another means of providing services to the public. It is an added service, but it is not our primary business.

To support his claim, O'Sullivan gave details of the different types of dealer groups. We have over 30 different kinds of dealer groups in the UK today, he said. And the biggest group is the franchised dealer group.

They are the biggest. They tend to have several outlets, which they then franchise out to smaller businesses called 'dealer groups'.

Who owns the most car dealerships in the UK?

largest car dealership groups uk Who owns the most car dealerships in the UK?

According to The Times Rich List, a survey of the most wealthy individuals and their assets in 2023, the top 100 wealthiest people own 437 dealerships in the UK.

What they drive. The rich tend to own larger and more expensive vehicles than those in the rest of the population, and their favourite choice is the BMW X5 SUV. As seen in the figure below, the owners of the top 100 are split 75:25 between SUV and saloon, and the majority are saloon cars.

A study by Barclays Wealth and the Centre for Responsible Credit also reveals that more than 60% of the wealthy had bought their current vehicle within the past 5 years. However, the number is much lower amongst the rest of the population, with only 13% of the population buying more than 5 years previously.

Paying for your car. As many of the super-rich are self-made billionaires, owning property doesn't have to involve huge costs and you don't necessarily need to pay for a large house. However, you do have to take into account the cost of the car itself, not to mention the insurance.

The most recent data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed that the average insured price of a new car in the UK last year was 25,664, or almost double the average income in the UK in 2023. However, those on the high street were likely to have been subsidised by the likes of the AA or RAC for those who have an extra few quid to blow.

While private car ownership is cheaper for those on higher incomes, in a public transport age it's possible for a family to get by with less than 10,000 a year in car costs, which is well under the average salary for the UK. However, according to data from the RAC as it released figures on insurance premiums in January 2023, the median annual cost of insuring a new car in the UK rose to 7,926.
