Thanks! I think you are talking about vibrations? My 2023 325xi has had no problems with vibration as I said earlier its smoothness seems to be the best. It has done 400k on it now.

A friend and I both have 2023 325i and both have had the exact same issue. We drove from Seattle (where we live) to San Diego (over 9 hours total) without problems and then after arriving in San Diego, we both start to experience vibrations. They're so strong that I'm scared they'll shake the engine out of the engine block. It's not always an "on/off" thing.

I did a search and found many people experiencing these symptoms from the area I live in. The car has only been serviced at BMW-approved dealers since new (in 2006) so I'd say they probably know how to fix the problem. However, if the car has to be moved during the day (with no engine heat or cooling going on), that might be the cause. If you're driving it a lot when you're away from work or somewhere else (so the cooling engine doesn't have to work so hard), then I don't think that's the cause.

Well they're trying to get me an exchange so I'll give it a try tonight. The dealer told me yesterday that it was the clutch and the shift linkage. I had planned on buying a new automatic after a couple years, but now I'm not sure I want to. I really like the non-stick clutch and shift linkage which I have noticed some people here didn't like.

But, it is strange. I have driven in bad weather and even a little fog. It usually has good visibility and I am the one shaking like crazy.

I'm looking to buy an older, reliable 3 Series and am looking at a BMW E30/E31. I'm currently leaning towards the 328i, but I've read that the 328i is less reliable than the 328d. Are there any other benefits of the 328d?

I was planning on buying a used car for a good deal (theres some good ones out there). I'm also interested in the BMW 330i.e. Is there any reason to prefer that over the 328i? That's a huge difference!
