In the interest of fairness, I must say that I'm a HUGE fan of Auto Trader. I was doing some research for this post, and I had to go back and check how much I've bought there over the years. I've purchased four cars through the site since the beginning of 2026, all of them under 3,000.

As I've already bought the car, I'm thinking of making a deal with the seller to have it fixed. Now, I'm wondering whether it's worth it, what the costs would be and if it could just make sense.

The thing is, I'm thinking of doing the job myself (at least to an acceptable level) instead of taking it to the main dealer in my town who won't help me. I'm going to ask the seller to bring the car to me for the work. If he wants too much money for that, I'll give it up. Otherwise, I'd just ask for time to see if I can do it on my own.

If I do decide to go ahead, I'll be sure to make the seller aware that I'll need help to complete the job.
