What are your rights when buying a second hand car from a dealer?

What is a reasonable time for car repair under warranty UK?
Hi, I have a Hyundai Avante 2024, the clutch went out. I took it to a garage in my local town and they have fixed it. I didn't take it back to the main dealer.
I have been asked to sign a form saying that the garage has fixed the car. The form doesn't seem to give a time for the repairs to be done. The garage has said it will take 3 weeks and I need to pay 300. I have been told that this time could be taken from the date of the repair. What do I need to do to claim for the repair?
I think you should claim this repair now, regardless of whether the garage will charge you for the time it took to repair the car. You cannot claim for repair until repair is agreed and completed by the garage. If the garage tries to charge you for their time in repairing the car, they are breaking the law, which you should report them to the Trading Standards people, who will take action against them.
I would write off the car, and not take any further action. This is what I suggest: Book an appointment at a different garage. Ask to see a manager. Tell them what you've found on the internet.4.5.6.7. Ask them for a copy of the form and details of the repair. Ask them to sign it and give it to you.9. Ask for a copy of the repair bill and a receipt.10. Take your car to a different garage.
I agree that you should consider a refund for the 300 as it is reasonable for them to take 3 weeks. If they fail to make the refund, then you may want to pursue the matter through the Trading Standards.
As a matter of interest, what were the services they provided? (eg clutch replacement, etc.)
How long is a warranty on a used car UK?
I am interested in buying a vehicle that needs a couple of new items fixed. I have no interest in the original owner and will need to purchase a car warranty and insurance for the used car as well. My question is how long is a warranty on a used car?
ANSWER. It depends on who sold you the car and what conditions it was in when they bought it back. We recommend you get a free, no obligation quote from a reputable firm. If you can prove that the car had been serviced within a year and is still road legal, the quoted price should be fine. You will be paying for the car in advance, but this money is refundable should you decide not to buy it. There are no guarantees, just like any other form of financial agreement.
Best wishes. Gary. I had a friend in my area that had a v6 gti.e. I don't know if he is still in business or not. But this dude has an incredible record of keeping his cars running for many years. I would take it to him. He may give you a good deal on what he knows about your particular car model. I'm pretty sure that you could probably make a deal with him in this regard. I'm not suggesting you take his word for it, though, lol. Just maybe, he might know what's going on under the hood of your particular car.
I had an E-Class that had a 5 year warranty, the problem was solved and it was returned to service at the end of the 5 years.
Do car dealers have to give 3 months warranty?

The question I want answered is whether a vehicle dealer will have to give you 3 months warranty after you buy. And, if not, does the "3 month free insurance" given in my contract matter ? 3 Months Warranty - For the initial 3 months period (30 Days of warranty) from the date of purchase and delivery, at any one time, a person buying a brand new vehicle from a retail car dealer, may be provided with a 3 months warranty for free by the retailer. Free 3 Month Warranty (Limited Liability) under Consumer Protection Laws. Under the 'Consumer Protection Act', the seller must provide the buyer with 'free service', for a reasonable amount of time, for consumable goods. This 'free service' can include warranty of the car (limited liability warranty). The seller needs to make the product available, within a reasonable time. This covers products like shoes, shirts, and other personal items. As a consumer it is clear who benefits.
It's important to note though, that no dealer wants to lose money on a 'sale'. You could try and argue that there is a difference between 1) selling a product to a customer, 2) selling a product at a discounted rate, and 3) giving someone free services.
If you are a car fan and like to go to a car dealership to test drive a car. Or maybe to be seen by your friends? Here's something good you can do for your self as a consumer. Don't just jump onto the seller's table. Ask your prospective dealer how long do they want you to test drive the car, how much do they want? What kind offer can you expect?
Don't ask me because I am an expert of how things work in the car industry in India. My advice might be different than yours.
Here's what you can do - Tell them what your expectations are. Like me if I offer you a deal and you find out later that I had another one waiting for you. Will you feel like your bargaining was fair? Probably yes because you found out before hand what you were getting yourself into.
Your best approach as a consumer would be to be sure of your decision before you pay. When you ask, don't tell the seller your reasons for visiting them. Be honest, without beating around the bush. You would probably lose credibility.
