Significant drops in fuel prices in past months
During the past year, motorists have been hit hard by ever increasing prices at the fuel pumps. We've heard of stories where family cars are costing their owners over £100 for a full tank of petrol. With so many other costs to factor in to their vehicle usage, motorists have been feeling a punch to the guts every time they must fill up.
However, according to the recent survey, the average tank of fuel has dropped in price by up to £6 since March 2013, with the average prices of unleaded petrol dropping by 4.5%. The prices of fuel across the country are still subject to regional variations though.
Up North in the Lake District, the cheapest petrol in the UK can be found in Carlisle, costing on average 129.7 pence per litre. At those prices, filling up an average MPV with a fuel tank size of 70 litres would cost it's driver about £90.79.
On the flip side, down South in Taunton is where the most expensive fuel can be found, costing on average 136.9 pence per litre. At those prices, filling up an average MPV with a fuel tank size of 70 litres would cost it's driver about £95.83.
