'Most reliable' used cars in the UK come from Japanese manufacturers
The South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai was ranked in sixth place, alongside Japanese Mitsubishi and Mazda, with a failure rate of 21%. In stark contrast was British manufacturer Land Rover, which came ranked at the bottom for reliablity, with a staggering failure rate of 71%.
According to Warranty Direct's survey of 50,000 of its policies, the owners of used Honda vehicles have only a 10% chance of their cars succumbing to some sort of failure leading to a breakdown. What Car?'s editor in chief, Chas Hallett, highlighted that Honda had been at the top of their reliability leaderboard for seven years now, adding "Japanese carmakers really do deliver on reliability and Honda is exceptionally good at this".
The only non-Asian manufacturer to feature in the top ten was American-based Chevrolet, with a failure rate of around 21%, and they also featured the lowest average repair price, at £227. Highest average repair price was unsurprisingly Porsche, at £623.
