Is that normal? And is it legit that I can get more in cash and buy a new car for the same price or less?

If you are getting a cash value, then yes, it's legit. There is no such thing as "cash for trade-in", only a "cash value" which is a percentage of what you pay for your old car on the day you trade it in.

You don't get the trade-in price unless you get cash. If you're getting cash value, it means you paid that price for your car. If you're getting money for your trade, it means you paid that amount for your car and got the money for your trade.

I am assuming you are looking at a 2023 or newer Toyota Sienna. I think the highest a dealer will give you for trade in cash is 10% of what you paid for your car. This may not be the case if you bought your car 3 years ago.

My experience with carsdirect.com has been pretty good. They give you a decent price based on the model year and condition.

Most of the deals I've seen have come from there (and not from the dealer). A few years ago, a guy was in the market for a used Saab 9-3 and asked about it.
