When the 2024 Toyota Tacoma was introduced in April, it did not take long for consumers to start comparing it to the Ford F-150 and Honda Ridgeline. However, Toyota's response, which was to introduce a truck that rides on the same platform as the Camry, means that the Tacoma is likely to be much more competitive than the two established truck brands, and it is that added capability that makes it the more interesting option.

On paper, Toyota says that the Tacoma offers more interior room than the standard F-150. The F-150 offers a generous 12.7 inches of legroom in its short-wheelbase version, while the Ridgeline offers even more with 14.9 inches of cargo room. Of course, this is where the comparison ends. The Tacoma does not have a cargo bed, and it lacks the interior space found in the Ridgeline. As for the 2024 Tacoma's interior room, it doesn't compare to the Toyota Corolla, either.

Toyota says that the Tacoma offers the largest rear cargo volume of any pickup truck and that the cargo area can be expanded with the use of a tool that lifts the floor and the tailgate. We took the Tacoma on a long road trip with the tools that came in the factory order and compared it to the Honda Ridgeline, which doesn't have a cargo area. The result of our tests will help us decide if the Tacoma is a reliable pickup.

I don't think the manufacturer wants to sell many. The idea is that people will buy them, and then after a while, Toyota will be able to raise prices.

A Tundra has higher resale value than a Tacoma. Why is the Tacoma so profitable? That's less than half what a base model Tundra sells for, and when you subtract the fact that a Tundra has a slightly higher profit margin than a Tacoma, it doesn't take much math to figure out that the Tacoma will make a profit on every truck that it sells.

It is very common for them to advertise an automatic with no mention of a manual. It is not worth the risk.

The one exception would be if you are in a location where there is a high demand for a specific model. In this case, the dealer will most likely get the vehicle with the automatic if the person doesn't want a manual.

I agree with what everyone else said. If you are looking at a car with a manual, you should be able to see a little plate in the back of the transmission housing that says AUTO. I also think that if you are buying a new car, you should ask about the transmission before you buy it.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I don't know how reliable they are, but I was not sure how to find out. I am located in Kansas City, and the car dealerships are all over the place. I thought I could just find out if there is a good chance that the car has an automatic, and then go from there.
