Does Toyota do automatic?

The other day, my wife was in the market for a new car. She went to a Toyota dealership and was interested in a Toyota Avalon (not sure if that is the name). She asked if there was an automatic version of the Avalon (or perhaps the Avalon is not an automatic).

From what I have read, there are a couple of possibilities, including "Yes, the Avalon has a 5-speed automatic transmission." The dealer confirmed that the Avalon has a 5-speed manual transmission.

I know there are automatic versions of the Avalon and Prius and even some others. Has anyone else been around one of these vehicles? What is the best place to look for these vehicles? What is the price range for this type of vehicle? Is the Avalon a very good value? We live in San Diego and need a vehicle that is good on gas. I want an Avalon but want to make sure there isn't a high price tag.

Re: ? I'm a former Toyota guy, and no, they don't. The reason you have so many models with manual transmissions is because of the way the Japanese market works. If a car is popular in Japan, it will sell big, as long as the quality is decent. Once they decide to drop quality a bit, the sales will drop significantly. This is why they dropped the Vitz, and kept the Etios.

If Toyota wants to get into the US market, they will have to be willing to build a very good vehicle with a good powertrain. It is very difficult to turn a profit on something that performs worse than an Accord or Camry. They can't just say 'hey, we're going to build the car in the US, but it'll be cheap'. That will not be successful.

So, while I would love for the Avalon to have an automatic, I think the only way they are going to be able to do it is if they buy a company that makes automatics, such as Haldex, and put their own powertrain in. And, even then, I think it will be quite a bit worse than what they currently have.

I drove the '04 Vitz for a month. I didn't care much for it.

Who is the largest Toyota dealer in the UK?

(Photo by David Gee for Press Association). Published:11:48Monday 27 July 2024. Toyota UK chairman John Palmer was speaking on the same topic, 'How best to secure the future of the UK automotive sector', at the recent Automotive Council Business Growth Summit. And the answer? His top three are all based on sales - JCT, Listers and Vantage.

Listers Toyota is the fourth-largest Toyota dealership in the UK, with 23 Toyota dealerships and 1 Lexus. It is based at a former RAF base in Northampton and has been there since it opened in 1993. But it is growing fast, says president Paul Gifford, and plans for new offices to cope with the business.

Our strategy is to grow our business organically, while we remain a customer-led dealership, he says. This is particularly important for us, given our growth, and how much we need to continue to build our relationship with our customers.

We see a tremendous opportunity for growth at Listers Toyota. We have a large property portfolio, with around 90,000 sq ft of development potential, so we will look to move to a larger location as our business grows. Our success is dependent on retaining the strong customer relationships we have built. We will look to increase our staff numbers, and take on new colleagues to help us service our large number of customers, whilst also growing our team.

Listers Toyota currently employs about 200 people across its 23 locations. Paul says that over 90 per cent of its customers are new, with the rest all under 25 years old.

We have a strong record of developing dealer teams, he says. It is our policy not to appoint an inexperienced candidate, so most of our new team members are fully trained and have had experience in other areas of the business. We are actively encouraging our workforce to become mentors to new staff and encourage ongoing training of those who have served for some time. We have found a great way of delivering this through a programme known as the 'Listers Ambassador programme', which works alongside our customer-led programme and is designed to develop our staff to the highest level of proficiency.
