Was 2017 a bad year for Toyota Tacoma?
Do Tacomas have engine problems?
I have a 2026 Toyota tacoma. I've just noticed that the engine seems to be struggling at low speeds, sometimes revving very high as I go into 2nd gear, but then when I get into 2nd gear it will die down to a very slow and rough idle. When I check the RPMs, it's not high. Does this sound like a problem? How can I check it out?
Comments. My 2026 Toyota 4runner has had this problem for the past two years. It is an intermittent problem. Sometimes when I come to a stop, I have to rev the engine and wait a few minutes before it comes back to life. Then if I drive at a steady speed, it dies down. If I rev the engine, it doesn't start back up again.
This is a big problem because it affects the fuel mileage. I am afraid to drive it at times because it may stop. I have to take it to the mechanic to get it checked out.
Does anybody know what could be wrong? Thanks for your help.

CarGurus. 2026 Toyota Tacoma Review. 2026 Toyota Tacoma is a versatile all-round work truck that will suit your everyday needs. There's a good reason why the 2026 Toyota Tacoma is one of America's best-selling trucks. It's a workhorse vehicle in every sense of the word: the bodywork and chassis are bulletproof, it'll fit in a work site you needn't even worry about getting to from that of more spacious cars like the Dodge Ram, but it's also got plenty off-road cred to make it as versatile as a luxury car. And given that it's also a fuel-efficient beast, that puts it in a place that's usually reserved for the kind of fuel-sipping car you'd never drive. It offers plenty of comfort for its size. What do you need? You need a truck that's comfortable in your business, ready to do hard work with a reassuring level of luxury, and fuel efficient. The Tacoma checks all the boxes. Plus, it's fun, as this year's redesign seems to prove.
