Aston Martin named 'coolest' UK car brand
Aston Martin had topped the list for six of the seven years of it's lifespan. Despite being overtaken by Apple and YouTube, Aston Martin has maintained its 'coolness' with third position in the list of 'Top 20 CoolBrands'. Car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz also made the list, albeit at position 16, whilst previous featured brands Maserati and Ferarri dropped out of the results since last year.
It is thought that the placing of Mercedes-Benz in this year's list is a result of the company's efforts to appeal to the younger market. Rob Halloway, communications director at Mercedes, commented: "I think by its very nature, coolness is in the perception of others. I think that cool things have a certain style, elegance and swagger about them."
CoolBrands described Aston Martin as "...a distinctive and individual character, honed over a century of design and engineering expertise. Combining bold, elegant forms with exceptional sporting ability, each Aston Martin is a pure driving machine". CoolBrands operates by canvassing opinions of both the public and over 30 experts in the area, to help collate the list of brands.
