April new car sales in EU on the up
Despite the upturn in new car registrations last month, this years sales are still 7.1% down over the same period in 2012. Also, whilst the UK, Germany and Spain saw growth, the other of the major European auto markets, France and Italy, actually saw falls in their year-on-year sales figures.
As far as the big car manufacturers go, Vauxhall, Ford, Audi, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen all saw their European sales increase in April 2013, though only Mercedes-Benz is actually up when it comes to year-to-date sales, with a rise of 2.4% over 2012. Away from the big players, April also saw Seat, Subaru, Land Rover and Dacia all have increases in their sales.
The best selling car in Europe last month was again the Volkswagen Golf, with the Renault Clio, Volkswagen Polo, Peugeot 208 and Ford Fiesta following closely behind. Volkswagen saw the sales of their Golf rising by 17.9% over the same period of 2012.
