Saab was orignally part of the Swedish Aeroplane Company with the first cars being produced in 1949. In 1989 the ailing company was bought out by General Motors who helped to turn the company around and helped it to make a profit for the first time in seven years in 1995. A recent announcement has seen plans for the company to change hands again as a group of Norwegian investors have plans to take it over.
Saab has built a reputation for being leaders in safety with many innovations over the years in this field. Due to the climate they are made to be used in Saab cars are also well known for their long lasting reliability and being friendly to the environment. This has also being contributed to by it's foundations as a very successful rally car in years gone by.
