Infiniti is the luxury division of Nissan introduced to the North American in 1989. This was around the time when Toyota and Honda launched their own luxury lines, Lexus and Acura.
Until late 2008, it was mostly centred on the US Market but since then, they have added many other markets including Europe, South Korea, Russia, China and the Middle East. However, although the brand was late entering the other markets, some of the models were actually already in the market but branded as Nissan.
There were also efforts by Nissan to dabble in the motor-racing arena and this started out with the Indy Racing League in 1996 but was stopped in 202. However, they currently have a successful partnership with Red Bull Racing in Formula One and, current F1 World Champion, Sebastian Vettel is their global ambassador.
Infiniti cars appear to be focused more on power and performance i.e. it's about the driver's experience. Nonetheless it still prides itself in maintaining high standards with regards to design, comfort and quality.
