Kia motors has grown to be the second biggest car manufacturer in Korea and is partly owned by the biggest in Korea and that is Hyundai. Although Kia is Korea's oldest car manufacturer it wasn't until 1986 that in partnership with Ford they started to export there cars.

They produced several Mazda derived cars which were sold by them and rebadged by Ford who sold them in North America and Australasia. Kia Motors America was setup in 1992 with them just selling the one model the Sedona which was later followed by the sportage SUV. The company have steadily built their market share there ever since, to the point where they now have a production base in North America after investing $1 billion in 2005.

Since it's rise in the North American market the company has set it's sights on the European market and currently is the fastest growing car company in the UK. Their current range offers budget cars in many style of motoring.

Latest review of a Kia vehicle (Picanto)

Avoid this car
The Kia Picanto comes with the claim that it will give you an impressive return of 67mpg. Whilst official manufacture figures are often exaggerated, this one is very wide of the mark. I can do no better than around 37mpg (combined.) So, it's uneconomical (never be in rush as it will hearty swig the petrol) but it's also a very uninspiring ride; flat, uncomfortable and an interior full of rattles and noise. It is, without doubt, the worse car I have ever owned and I've owned some rubbish in my time! So, unless someone wants to give it to you for free, and supply the fuel, avoid as you will be bitterly disappointed!
