Bentley are well known for their performance and luxury. Founded in 1919 by W.O.Bentley these early cars were used mostly with great success in the racing arena the cars they were using were far more powerful than it's competitors. Mainly due to it's light weight engine design due to the use of aluminium for it's internal coponents.
In 1931 Bentley cars were taken over by Rolls Royce, who moved it's production to Derby UK. from it's London base. Whilst in Rolls Royces ownership the Bentley brand was developed as the performance arm of the luxury car manufacturer.
Bentley stayed in the hands of Rolls Royce until it was taken over by the VW Audi group in 1998, although Rolls Royce's ownership changed hands a few times over the years. VW's ownership has seen a number of models come and go all of them have followed the name's tradition of great power with total luxury.
